Bulgarian commandos are reported to have launched a new special operation targeting a Ministry official who has allegedly manipulated EU grant competitions.
Operation 'The Clerk' involves foul play by an ministerial official who has manipulated grant applications for the EU Competitiveness and Innovation Program, announced Wednesday Bulgaria's Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov.
“The clerk has has used his post in order to leak information, manipulate and change results for the undergoing competitions and decide on the grant winner,” said Minister Tsvetanov.
Bulgarian Police are currently raiding the Sofia residential areas “Studentski grad” (the Students' City), “Ileintsi”, “Nadezhda” and “Vrabnitsa”.
Tsvetanov added that the 'mutri' (mobsters) special op, targeting gang bosses, which was launched Tuesday is going smoothly in the Bulgarian city of Yambol.
Police are reported to have detained and taken in for questioning a number of suspects. Evidence proving the Yambol gang's violent methods has also been uncovered.
On Tuesday, Bulgaria's interior minister made it clear that the operation against Bulgaria's home-bred mobsters will be violent criminal groups and not the country's oligarchs pointing out that gang bosses are 'white-colored successful businessmen' today because Bulgaria's legislative and punitive bodies had not done their job twenty years back at the start of democracy.
