Ukrainian Woman Detained in Sunny Beach After Attempted Bribery of Police Officers
Bulgarian authorities found themselves grappling with a peculiar case involving a 60-year-old Ukrainian woman
40-year-old policeman Lyubomir Mitov has been seriously wounded in a shoot-out close to Bulgaria's Svoge, the Interior Ministry informed Friday.
At 6.04 am a woman alerted the police that a luxurious jeep had been stolen close to the village of Bov. A police patrol was immediately sent to the scene and started chasing the car.
The thieves opened fire on the police officers and Mitov was seriously injured in the shoot-out. Later the two thieves, 22 and 34 years-old, were detained and their weapons seized.
Mitov was rushed to the Military Medical Academy in Sofia and arrived at the hospital soon after 7 am. Doctors reported that his condition is very serious after receiving bullet wounds to the stomach area.
The drama had started when the two thieves had broken into a house in Bov, beaten up 2 women inside and stolen BGN 1500, before taking the 4x4 Lincoln Jeep.
The car and house were owned by Krasimir Ivanov, a.k.a Krasi the American. The attackers were allegedly his ex-employees. Police later found a cross-bow and ammunition in the jeep that also allegedly belonged to Ivanov.
