The Bulgarian Motorcycling Federation (BMF) says it has reached a preliminary agreement with Dorna Sports to bring the MotoGP World Championship to Bulgaria for five years starting in the 2012 season, UK based autosport.com reported Friday.
BMF head Bodgan Nikolov said a five-year deal had been secured with MotoGP rights-holder Dorna.
"We signed the agreement with Carmelo Ezpeleta and we're very pleased because no country from our region has hosted a motorcycle grand prix," Nikolov said.
"It's still not clear which track will host the races as we're still thinking over two options."
The new circuit set to be constructed near the northern town of Dolna Mitropoliya is the most likely location for the event.
Bulgaria is also due to stage a round of the World Rally Championship next year and is keen to host a Formula One race.
