All passenger buses in the EU are to undergo a simultaneous checkup between July 20 and July 27, Bulgaria's Interior Ministry informs.

The action is organized by the European Traffic Police Network (TISPOL), aiming at establishing effective measures to restrict violations and decrease the number of traffic fatalities.

TISPOL reports that a significant share of serious traffic accidents in Europe, involving a large number of fatalities, are caused by bus drivers. Main factors are fatigue, speeding and DUI.

As aTISPOL member, Bulgaria's Traffic Police will conduct intense checkups of passenger buses during the week of July 20.

All EU media's will be appraised of the results upon the conclusion of the TISPOL action.
