A premeditated murder investigation is underway after a violent incident in the village of Kokalyane near Sofia, where a man is accused of fatally stabbing another person inside a garage that had been adapted for living. According to the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office, the attack took place on April 3 and involved multiple knife wounds.
Prosecutors say the victim was struck in the chest, groin, and left leg. The accused has been formally charged with premeditated murder, with investigators building the case under the supervision of the Sofia Police and the SDVR.
The Sofia City Court has ordered the suspect to remain in custody on a permanent detention measure. Judges accepted the prosecution’s position that the available evidence is sufficient to support the charge and that there is a real risk the accused could commit another offence if released.
In its ruling, the court stated it agrees with the prosecution’s assessment of both the evidentiary basis and the need for the most severe preventive measure. The decision is not final and may be appealed before the Sofia Court of Appeal, authorities noted, as the investigation continues.
