The Deputy Interior Minister, Pavlin Dimitrov, will submit his resignation with Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, announced Sunday evening.
Borisov spoke in an interview for the TV channel bTV.
The reason for the resignation is the fact Dimitrov was exposed as a former agent of the Communist State Security.
When asked if special surveillance devices were used in a probe against the Customs Agency Director, Vanyo Tanov, the PM replied that "those in power must be spied on and followed," adding he did not oppose being spied on either.
"The best way to build trust is to check on a certain person. We are all subject to checks," Borisov pointed out.
The PM defended the large budget slated for special surveillance devices saying over 34% of the information, collected through them, is used as court evidence, countering reports of the National anti-Crime and anti-Terrorism Forum (NAAF), listing this percentage at 3%.
Borisov said the amount of BGN 100 M for the devices is insinuation because the real budget is under BGN 20 M and might still go down.
The PM explained the lack of Christmas bonuses for retirees with the fact the State simply has no money.
"When you make children, when you go to school and make your professional career, you must keep in mind how much money you get and how much you spend," Borisov advised.
The PM and Foreign Minister, Nikolay Mladenov, are sending Sunday a letter to President, Georgi Parvanov, including a list of Ambassadors, who were exposed as collaborators and agents of the Communist secret services, to be recalled while the official proposal will be extended to the President during the next Council of Ministers meeting.
The recall can be done only by a decree signed by Parvanov, however, the latter already declared several times he opposes the recall.
Borisov informed Brussels and NATO have been alarmed over the President's statements these Ambassadors have contributions for Bulgaria's joining of the EU and the Alliance.
Parvanov was also exposed in 2006 as a former State Security agent, working under the alias Gotse.
