Bulgaria's conservative Order, Law and Justice (RZS) party, which recently saw the demise of its parliamentary group and withdrew its support for the center-right government, has voiced plans to overthrow it.
“We are now being commanded by a party, which is a hybrid between communists and policemen,” Yane Yanev, RZS leader, said in the town of Blagoevgrad, referring to the ruling GERB party.
Yanev said his party's top priority are early general elections and the formation of a Grand National Assembly to amend the constitution of the country.
“Boyko Borisov's only goal is to impose dictatorship-like style of ruling. Apart from Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov, there is no other ministers in this cabinet with necessary political background, they all have been selected randomly, so that they serve Borisov. Even though he humiliates them on a daily basis, they remain his slaves,” Yanev said.
Yanvev accused Borisov of replacing the vote of the people by establishing a new illegal tree-way coalition, modeled on the previous Socialist-led government. According to him the new behind-the-scene coalition is made up of the leaders of the ruling GERB, the nationalist Ataka and the die-hard right-wing Democrats for Strong Bulgaria parties, which have been the staunches supporters of the current government.
RZS party has been in the spotlight for the last two months following the defection of one of its members Mario Tagarinski, which took its parliamentary group below the ten-member minimum and stripped it of its official status.
The party leader Yane Yanev was quick to blame the prime minister for the falling apart of the parliamentary group and announced he will keep his promise to give the new government a six-month “grace period”, which expires on January 27.
The opposition party has called on all Bulgarians to overcome their fear and submissiveness and to join its rally in the capital Sofia on March 10, which will take place under the motto “New constitution – new state”.
GERB leader Boyko Borissov reacted to the fall of the Zhelyazkov government during a live broadcast on his official Facebook page, following the mass protests across the country.
