Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has accused his last elected predecessor Plamen Oresharski and the then-FM Petar Chobanov of plotting a scenario to destroy Corporate Commercial bank (KTB).

"They knocked KTB down intentionally. Those who were in power - [Petar] Chobanov and [Plamen] Oresharski. They sent police there... And within four months they did not bother - neither Iskrov nor Gounev," Borisov argued.

He is referring to the Bulgarian National Bank's Governor Ivan Iskrov and one of his deputies, Tsvetan Gounev.

His comments coincide with the beginning of a case against the revocation of KTB's license following a move from the BNB to declare it insolvent in the end of October.

The Prime Minister vented his anger during an address to the expat community in Germany's capital Berlin, where he is on an official visit alongside a government delegation to meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

He also lambasted at the previous elected government for having accumulated billions of BGN worth in public debt in a year and a half.

"A year [sic!] of liars being in power - [BGN] 10 B of debt," he added.

In his words, BGN 2 B that could be spent on "investment... are earmarked for KTB instead." He did not elaborate.

Borisov also attributed the halt of the South Stream pipeline project to the policies of Oresharski's cabinet, since his government allegedly "lied to both Brussels and the Russians" and thus put a wheel on a Russian project that was bound to "succeed".
