No more than 3 million Bulgarian nationals have access to medical service within 30 minutes at present, according to Health Minister Petar Moskov.
In a Saturday interview for Nova TV, Moskov said that the staff of Emergency Care units in big cities would grow in the coming months, adding that the measure would be accompanied by an increase in the number of ambulances.
He claimed that the urgent care sector had to undergo reforms aimed at ensuring swift and efficient services of the highest quality.
“This is not a process which cannot be completed in a month or two, but the important thing is to make it clear that there is political will to implement this decision,” Moskov noted.
The Health Minister vowed that the implementation of the strategy, which had been adopted with the assistance of the European Union, would guarantee access to medical service to 7 million Bulgarian nationals.
Moskov underscored that the strategy had to be implemented by 2020 at the latest, adding that changes would be introduced gradually, starting in 2015.
