Bulgarians are gathering Saturday in the South Park in the capital Sofia to boil and color thousands of eggs in the course of three minutes in an attempt to break the Guinness record.
2 500 eggs will be put in a giant pan on an open fire. Anyone can then participate in the egg coloring. Participants will receive boiled eggs and egg dye and tools.
The initiative is organized by the Culinary Historian Academy.
Over 2 000 participants are expected along with 150 staff, 200 people from folk dancing troupes, and 80 representatives of craft associations.
There will be an Easter Bazar presenting traditional Bulgarian food, drinks, and crafts. The celebration will end with a mass Easter horo (traditional folk dance).
