Directors from 112 countries have already confirmed their participation in the 9th edition of the International Short Film Festival "In The Palace" in the Black Sea town of Blachik.
The forum's executive director Tsanko Vasilev announced that the deadline for film submissions for international directors is March 25, while Bulgarians can apply until April 15.
"This year, we are expecting many key figures of the international cinema," Vasilev said, adding that the forum is negotiating the participation of American director Oliver Stone and Italian actress Sophia Loren.
At first the Municipal Council in Balchik refused to co-finance the 9th edition of the festival, but later reconsidered and provided BGN 70 000.
"In The Palace" is organized in partnership and with the support of Balchik Municipality, Ministry of Culture, National Film Center, and the State Cultural Institute – Cultural Center "The Palace" Balchik, and is the first and only short film festival in Bulgaria, funded by EU programmes.
The festival will take place from June 18-25 in Balchik.
