A bomb threat signal interrupted a sitting of the municipal authorities of Bulgarian capital Sofia, reports BGNES.

The officers of the city hall were safely evacuated from the building.

The signal was received during a meeting of the Municipal Council that had to discuss financial statements from firms owned by the city of Sofia, amid controversy about some of those companies.

Other topics on the agenda included discussing the work of the directors of municipal firms and their potential release from office.

The building must stay closed for 24 hours, according to safety regulations.

A similar threat was received by the Sofia City Hall earlier this year.

Sofia mayor Yordanka Fandakova, who presided the sitting, stated, as quoted by BGNES, that she believes there is no bomb in the building, but nevertheless safety requires for everyone to exit.
