Caretaker Prime Minister Convenes Bulgarian Security Council
The Security Council will held a meeting today at the Council of Ministers’ building.
Bulgarian caretaker Deputy Prime Ekaterina Zaharieva will head the energy board to be established during Wednesday's government sitting.
According to a draft decree of the caretaker government, as cited by Sega daily, Zaharieva's Deputy will be Vasil Shtonov, caretaker Minister of Economy and Energy.
Members of the board will be the Deputy Minister of Economy and Energy and the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Policy and the Chair of the Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (DKEVR).
There will be one representative from each of the following units: the Bulgarian Photovoltaic Association, the Association of Hydropower Plants, the Bulgarian Wind Energy Association, the Bulgarian Energy Holding, the National Electricity Company, TPP AES Galabovo, ContourGlobal Maritsa East 3 TPP, the Association of Heating Utilities in Bulgaria, factory TPPs, the Association of Electricity Traders in Bulgaria, the Electricity System Operator, power distributors EVN Bulgaria, Energo – Pro Bulgaria and CEZ Bulgaria, the Bulgarian National Consumers Association, the Bulgarian Federation of Industrial Energy Consumers, the Association of Banks in Bulgarian, the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Bulgarian Chamber of Mining and Geology, and trade unions the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria and the Podkrepa Labor Confederation.
An advisor of Zaharieva will act as a secretary of the energy board.
The Economic and Social Policy Directorate at the administration of the Council of Ministers will provide administrative service to the new structure.
The tasks of the new body will include analyses of the energy sector and the causes for system instabilities, proposals of principles and guidelines for the sustainable development of the sector, as well as measures to solve problems to stabilize the system, and proposals of legislative changes.
