Authorities lifted on Monday a ban for bathing imposed on the Officers' beach in the Bulgarian Black Sea capital of Varna.
The ban was issued two weeks ago after samples have showed heightened presence of E. coli and enterococcus bacteria in the water.
A second consecutive sample has shown that the quality of the water has improved and is now within the norms, private bTV station informs.
From Monday, the beach also has a concessionaire. The concession was granted to a company from Varna in exchange for BGN 26 000 without VAT.
In the region of Varna, 24 out of 66 beaches still remain without concessionaires.
It is expected that the revenues from beach concessions will be BGN 400 000 down from last year's figures.
Nearly two thirds of the beaches along Bulgaria's northern Black Sea coast have no concessionaires and lifeguards.
For example in the resort of Kamchiya, no concessionaires have been selected for the beaches. Nevertheless, two lifeguard towers will be provided on the most popular beaches to avoid water incidents.
