Bulgarian Regional Minister Lilyana Pavlova stated that the roads in the region of Silistra will be closed to all traffic as the situation there remains most critical.
At present, the roads in the region are closed for heavy traffic, with their gradual closure to all traffic forthcoming.
The only road remaining open is the one between Silistra and Shumen, Pavlova said in an interview for private bTV station on Tuesday.
The road between Silistra and Ruse will be closed in the section around the Danube river.
The road between Silistra and Varna will also be closed due to heavy snowfall.
Pavlova called on all citizens travelling on Struma motorway to drive carefully in the section between Blagoevgrad and Dupnitsa due to a dense fog.
The minister informed that more than 2600 snow ploughs operated overnight, with their number being doubled.
The situation was most critical in the regions of Veliko Tarnovo and Ruse, where black ice had formed.
The hazard was overcame in eastern Bulgaria and in the region between Veliko Tarnovo and Ruse with roads gradually closed to all traffic in order to be treated against the formation of black ice.
According to the forecast of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, precipitation across the country will stop before lunch on Tuesday.
However new precipitation will start to occur in the southwest of the country in the evening.
The maximum temperatures will range between minus 2 and three degrees, while in the southwestern areas temperatures will reach 5-6 degrees.
A yellow code for the formation of black ice has been issued for six regions – Blagoevgrad, Burgas, Dobrich, Haskovo, Varna and Yambol.
