''You are the most surviving Bulgarian politician,'' stated former French President Nicolas Sarkozy at a news conference following his meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart Boiko Borisov. ''I applaude you for your effors and for the fact that you managed to create a working government. You have no losses, you only have victories.''
Borisov traveled to France to attend the exhibition The Epic of the Thracian Kings opening at Musee du Louvre Tuesday.
During the talks, Sarkozy stated his support for Borisov's center-right Bulgarian party GERB that is also a part of the European People's Party. The French politician noted that collaboration between his Union for Popular Movement and GERB has been excellent over the years.
''Ever since I saw you I knew we would become friends,'' Sarkozy added. ''I love Bulgaria very much. I am glad that thanks to GERB, Bulgaria has taken its rightful place in the EU.''
In his turn, Bulgarian PM Borisov congratulated Sarkozy on his win at the past local elections in France.
''Or meeting with my friend Sarkozy gives additional confidence to the French business that Bulgaria is a predictable country and despite the political conjuncture we remain a good business target,'' Borisov said. '' It is not a mere coincidence that all big French companies already asked to see me and to talk about investment opportunities in our country.''
At the end of the discussion Bulgarian PM invited democratic leader Sarkozy to visit Bulgaria to strengthen the collaboration between center-right parties GERB and the French Union for Popular Movement. It was stated that the former French President has accepted and the visit will be further scheduled.
