Bulgarian capital Sofia is joining Saturday the list of European cities celebrating the art of drama through Theatre Night.

For a few hours Sofia will become a huge stage, following the tradition of other European capitals to display theatre art, the press office of Sofia City Hall announced.

The first Theatre Night in Bulgaria is an associated member of the European Theatre Night and it is set to delight all theatre loving people through a selection of performances and a sideline program.

30 theatre troupes, independent actors and a number of theatres have joined the initiative. The program includes over 50 indoor and outdoor performances, musical performances and dances, monodramas, exhibits and workshops.

Tickets for all of them are available at special prices.

Performances will be held in National Theater "Ivan Vazov," Theater "Sofia," Youth Theater "Nikolay Binev," "The Small City Theater," Theater "Vuzrazhdane," "Theater Workshop "Sfumato," University Theater @lma@lter, Studio 5 in the National Palace of Culture, and "The Red House."

The National Opera is also staging an impressive program, which even includes a walk through its building's "secret places."

Workshops, concerts and fire shows will take place at the open air stages in the Central Park "Borisova Gradina," and park "Zaimov."

The National Academy for Film and Theater Art, NATFA, will present the exhibit "Before vs. Now" with photos from theater backstage and rehearsals.

In addition, exhibits will be organized in Vivacom Art Hall, the National Theater and the National Opera.

The British Council and Cinema City will show the hit performance of the British National Theater "Audience," starring Helen Mirren.

The organizers of Theatre Night in Bulgaria are Arts Projects Foundation and Informburo Association with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Bulgarian Artist Union and the Municipality of Sofia.

The international partner of the initiative is European Theatre Night Association while Vivacom and Vivacom Fund are its general sponsors.

A number of Bulgarian actors will become the first ambassadors of Theater Night.
