Residents and visitors in Sofia will be able to park without payment in the city’s “blue” and “green” zones during the upcoming Easter holidays, the Center for Urban Mobility has confirmed. The suspension of the paid parking regime will cover the period from Good Friday through the second day of Easter, specifically April 10, 11, 12 and 13.
The authority clarified that hourly charging will not be applied during these days, effectively removing the usual restrictions across both central and residential parking areas. Despite the temporary suspension of fees, officials urged drivers to continue observing all general traffic, stopping, and safety regulations across the capital.
The Center for Urban Mobility also emphasized that normal discipline on the roads must be maintained even in the absence of paid parking controls, calling on citizens to act responsibly during the holiday period when traffic levels typically increase.
Separately, the Ministry of Interior announced the launch of a road safety campaign ahead of the Easter travel peak. Police traffic units will be deployed in high-congestion areas and near Orthodox churches, where heavy movement is expected.
Authorities noted that officers will focus on preventing dangerous driving behavior, including checks for alcohol and drug use, as well as monitoring compliance with speed limits. The Interior Ministry added that information on the full scope of the operation will be released later.
