Bulgaria's capital Sofia witnessed five suicide attempts Sunday into Monday, three of them fatal.

The Sofia police inform the first call came after a woman found her 67-year-old brother inside his apartment in the Nadezhda district with cut veins.

The police were later called to the Ovcha Kupel district where a man, 56, took a fatal jump from an apartment building.

A 20-year-old girl has also committed suicide overnight in the Sofia Simeonovo suburb after taking a large amount of pills.

Police were successful in preventing two more suicide attempts in the capital – a woman, 90, and a man, 38, have been listed in the Sofia emergency "Pirogov" hospital after attempting to end their lives.

A man committed suicide in Sofia on August 16, by smashing his automobile head-on into a passenger bus. On August 22, another driver shot dead an acquaintance over a love triangle, attempted to commit suicide and died several days later in the hospital.
