Following the murder of Osama bin Laden on May 02, the operational and military control of the Al-Qaeda terrorist group has been transferred to Egyptian Saif Al-Adel.
The decision to appoint Saif al-Adel interim leader of the extremist group was driven by growing worries over the future of Al-Quaeda, according to former Libyan militant Noman Benotman.
Benotman, a former leader of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) and prominent member of Al-Qaeda, currently supplies inside information to the US intelligence services.
According to Benotman, the leadership of the extremist group may soon be transferred to Ayman al-Zawahiri, a long-time deputy of Bin Laden, as a full-fledged successor to Bin Laden.
