The International Criminal Court's chief prosecutor has asked Judges asked to issue an arrest warrant for Libyan strongman Muammar Gaddafi and two other key member's of his regime.
The office of prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo has asked for international arrest warrants against Muammar Gaddafi, his son Saif el-Islam and intelligence Abdullah Senussi for crimes against humanity, since it is stated they ordered, planned and participated in illegal attacks.
The International Criminal Court said Gaddafi's forces attacked civilians in their homes, shot at demonstrators, shelled funeral processions and deployed snipers to kill people leaving mosques.
"The office was able to gather direct evidence about orders issued by Muammar Gaddafi himself," Moreno-Ocampo revealed at an ICC press conference at The Hague, Netherlands, on Monday.
Moreno-Ocampo's investigators have conducted 30 missions to 11 countries and have interviewed more than 50 witnesses, including "key insiders,"
Before international arrest warrants could be issued, judges have to evaluate the evidence.
