The Bulgarian National Revenue Agency has announced it will collect about BGN 3 M after 12 checks of 24 popular musicians.

At a meeting of the Commission for corruption fight and conflict of interests on Thursday, the head of the National Revenue Agency (NAP), Krasimir Stefanov, said that only one check on the Bulgarian football players is almost over and it has showed tax evasion of more than BGN 100,000.

Stefanov also said that the inspection on Bulgarian football clubs has brought to the state treasury more than BGN 8 M.

"NAP has returned BGN 500 M in VAT to the business from the beginning of the year," Stefanov said.

He also explained that for the moment, the retentions of VAT amount to about BGN 200 M. In his words, this is a level that the agency has not reached since 2004.

Stefanov also added that the VAT that needs to be returned to companies only for August was with BGN 1 B more than last year.
