Bulgaria’s Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, reiterated Saturday that he applauds and welcomes “true” investors, not those who are pillaging the country.

Borisov, who became known in the last months for strongly criticizing foreign businesses, who commit “daylight” robberies, said the State supports serious investors, those who really bring money to the Bulgarian economy and create new jobs.

The PM pointed out the fact that foreign investments in Bulgaria in April are up compared to the same month in 2009 is a source of optimism and good news.

Borisov was in the northern town of Mezdra to officially open the new Water Power Plant (WPP) “Kaleto.”

Borisov cut the ribbon with the owner of the WPP, Toni Yordanov.

The Minister of Economy and Energy, Traicho Traikov and the Minister of Labor of Social Policy, Totyu Mladenov, were also in attendance.

The WPP cost is BGN 15 M.

Mladenov, on his part, announced that nearly 250 000 disadvantaged people will receive the so-called energy assistance in 2010.

Both the PM and the Minister explained that the State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation is yet to say the exact prices of electric power, but in times of crisis they should not go up drastically.
