The house of Asen Berbatov, brother of Bulgaria's football star and Manchester United striker, Dimitar, has been searched by the police last week.
The information was reported by Bulgaria's Standart News agency, citing the Regional Prosecutor's office in the southern city of Blagoevgrad.
The police had a search warrant and the probe is related to a pre-trail procedure against an unknown individual, possibly related to a tax offense, but Asen Berbatov is not charged with anything of accused of anything, the Regional Prosecutor spokesperson is quoted saying.
Asen's wife, Mimi, told Standart that 4 plain-clothes, 2 uniform policemen and 2 revenue agents knocked on their door in the morning of April 20, requesting documentation about their business – a clothing store, they were in the process of closing. Mimi also said the police and the agents have been very polite and she is not at all alarmed by the search.
