The wife of the Chair of Varna municipal council, Borislav Gutsanov, who was arrested Wednesday, says the police is lying about the money they found during the raid.
On Thursday, Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, informed that police found over BGN 100 000 in different currency and Gutsanov had resisted arrest and locked the door of his house prompting police to enter by force.
Monica Gutsanova declared Friday that the money found inside the house was BGN 25 000, which the policemen counted before her. She says the funds were slated for a family Easter vacation.
The woman further stated the information about her husband resisting arrest is also a fabrication, adding police have confiscated everything – computers, money, documents, credit card numbers, but failed to provide her with a list.
Gutsanova has hired a lawyer and will file a harassment and perjury law suit. She had undergone a psychological exam and plans to do one for her two children.
Gutsanov’s wife further informs the police refused to let her see her husband in jail during the Easter holiday and doubts he will be released after his detention measure expires.
