Warnings have been issued in several Bulgarian regions as black ice is expected in the country's west, the national weather service has said.
A Code Yellow alert is in force in the regions of Sofia-region, the City of Sofia, Pernik and Kyustendil, according to the National Insitute for Meteorology and Hydrology with the Bulgarian Academy of Science.
The area affected comprises only 4 of 28 Bulgarian regions. With a cold spell gradually catching much of the country, however, snowfall is likely on the night of Monday into Tuesday, meteorologists say.
On Tuesday, the snow will extend to most of the country.
