Sofia City Court (SGS) sentenced on Wednesday Bulgarian MP from nationalist Ataka party, Desislav Chukolov, to two years of probation.
Chukolov will have to meet with probation officer each week and will have to serve two years of community service. In addition, he will be subject to 25 % deduction from his salary.
The MP faced two sentences on hooliganism charges, but after making an agreement with the prosecutor's office was issued with a joint sentence.
One of the sentences involved two years of probation and 25 % deduction from his salary for his participation in a brawl outside a tobacco and alcohol shop in the centre of Sofia last autumn.
The other sentence involved six months of probation and 13 % deduction from his salary for his incursion into the building of the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts (NATFIZ), which took place also last autumn shortly after the first incident.
On both occassions, Chukolov was accompanied by the leader of the party, Volen Siderov. In the first instance, the two MPs accused the owners of the tobacco and alcohol shop of selling drugs and were involved in a brawl with the owners, citizens and police officers.
Several days later, they rushed into the building of NATFIZ and accused students of taking drugs.
In March, Siderov and Chukolov pleaded guilty to all charges and made an agreement with the prosecutor's office.
Back in March, Siderov was also sentenced to probation.
