Bulgarian Culture Minister Vezhdi Rashidov has met with a number of state officials and handed two "Golden Age" awards during his trip to Moscow which ends Wednesday, May 11.

The visit is aimed at boosting cultural ties and promoting exchange of events, the ministry says.

Rashidov earlier this week headed to the Russian capital bringing with him the highest Bulgarian state award to renowned film director Nikita Mikhalkov and and Mariinsky Theater head Valery Gergiev.

He also met counterpart Vladimir Medinsky and Zelfira Tregulova, the head of Tretyakov Gallery, securing joint exhibitions with Bulgarian cultural institutions.

The minister is to have several more meetings on Wednesday. His delegation includes Bulgarian officials representing the National Art Gallery in Sofia and the Musical Theater.
