Belgian authorities have reportedly detained Salah Abdeslam, who is suspected as one of the perpetrators of the Friday's attacks in Paris.

Abdeslam, who is suspected of renting a black VW Polo used by the group attacking the Bataclan concert hall, was detained in the Brussels suburb of Molenbeek on Monday.

He was supposedly stopped by French police close to the border with Belgium shortly after the attacks.

However Abdeslam and the two other men accompanying him were allowed to proceed as at the time their names did not appear on any wanted list.

He is one of three brothers based in Belgium, who were linked to the attacks.

One of his brothers Ibrahim Abdeslam carried out the suicide attack at the Comptoir Voltaire cafe.

French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said that 104 people were placed under house arrest in 168 raids conducted overnight, with 23 people detained and dozens of weapons seized.

The mastermind of the attacks has been identified as Abdelhamid Abaaoud, born in Belgium, who is currently believed to be in Syria.

Meanwhile, French prosecutors identified two more of the suicide bombers – Ahmad Al Mohammad and Samy Amimour, with the remaining five identified over the weekend.

Mohammad, one of the suicide bombers targeting the Stade de France, has been definitively linked to the Syrian passport found near his body.

Amimour, one of the attackers blowing himself up at the Bataclan concert hall, was born in a north-eastern suburb of Paris and was known to French authorities before the attacks.

A series of large-scale raids have been carried out across France as authorities are seeking suspects and accomplices.

A police operation has also been conducted in the Brussels neighbourhood of Molenbeek, which is known as haven for jihadists.

French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said that the attacks were organised from Syria.

More than 150 raids on militant targets across France, above all in the Parisian suburb of Bobigny and the cities of Grenoble, Toulouse and Lyon.

The attacks were carried by eight men armed with suicide belts and machine guns, who targeted six sites across Paris almost simultaneously.

Seven attackers died, most of them blowing themselves up and one killed by security forces.

Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for the attacks, which claimed the lives of 129 people and left hundreds injured.
