Bulgaria: Judge Rumyana Chenalova Detained for 72 Hours Photo by BGNES

Bulgaria's prosecuting authority has announced that judge Rumyana Chenalova, who has been sought nationwide since Tuesday noon, is now in custody.

Chenalova is now facing pre-trial proceedings for professional misconduct and a document-related offence.

She was removed from office on January 22 for a six-month period, and authorities had failed to summon her to a number of hearings at the Sofia Investigation Office.

Prosecutors say they are to demand that Chenalova remain in detention following the 72-hour period.
