The offices of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych have been left unguarded, with opposition protesters in full control of the government district.

The capital city of Kiev remains calm, a day after deal was signed to end a political crisis in which dozens have died, the BBC reports.

Despite the deal, thousands of people have remained on the streets of Kiev Saturday.

According to unconfirmed reports, President Yanukovych has left Kiev and he has allegedly traveled to the city of Kharkiv in the east, close to the Russian border.

Meanwhile, Parliament speaker Volodymyr Rybak, has tendered his resignation citing "health reasons", the parliament's TV channel Rada reports.

One group of far-right protesters had threatened to take action if President Yanukovych did not resign by Saturday morning, the BBC informs.

On Thursday, police opened fire on protesters who have been occupying Independence Square in central Kiev. Some 77 protesters and police had been killed since Tuesday in the worst violence outburst since anti-government protests began in November.

The political pact was signed on Friday by President Viktor Yanukovych and opposition leaders after mediation by EU foreign ministers. According to it, a unity government will be formed and elections held by the end of 2014.

However, the deal has been met with scepticism by some of the thousands of protesters who remained on the streets of Kiev. Opposition leaders who signed it were booed and called traitors.
