A heavy crash disrupted Wednesday morning traffic along the Bulgarian capital busiest thoroughfare, which links Sofia downtown to the residential districts in the southeast of the city.

The accident occurred at 9 am, a rush hour for the capital, when a car, driven by a heavily drunk man, crashed into a public transport bus, full of young people.

The two vehicles bumped in the Tsarigradsko Shosse lane leading from the Eagles Bridge in downtown Sofia to Mladost districts.

The drunk driver has been injured, but there were no immediate reports of other casualties.

The passengers in the bus, primarily students traveling from downtown Sofia to Students' Town, were just scared and distressed.
