Late Libyan strongman Muammar Gaddafi referred to ex-US Secretary Of State Condoleezza Rice as "his African Princess," she writes in an excerpt from her memoirs.

In the excerpt from her book, "No Higher Honor," published online by The Daily Beast, Rice states Gaddafi had a "slightly eerie fascination" with her personally, The Telegraph reports.

Rice met with Gaddafi in September 2008 in Libya, becoming the highest-ranking US official to visit Libya since then-Vice President Richard Nixon in 1957. The Libyan dictator even broke his Ramadan fast upon meeting with her.

Rice admits she was warned ahead of the meeting that Gaddafi may exhibit some signs of "crazy" behavior. While the two talked, the former Libyan leader suddenly stopped speaking and began rolling his head back and forth, after which he started ranting against the notion of a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine, Rice recalls.

In her memoirs, Rice also writes that Gaddafi presented her with a collection of photos of her meetings with world leaders – set to the music of a song called "Black Flower in the White House," written for her by a Libyan composer.

Suspicions that Gaddafi may have had something of a crush on Condoleezza Rice emerged at the end of August. Back then, after successfully storming Gaddafi's Bab al-Aziziya compound in downtown Tripoli, rebel fighters discovered a bizarre album with photos of the US Secretary of State in the second Bush Administration.

The photos showed Condoleezza Rice at a number of public events, with many of them being close-ups.
