Russia`s Prime Minister Vladimir Putin (L) and president Dmitry Medvedev (R) greet United Russia party members at the XIIth United Russia Party Congress in Moscow, Russia, on 24 September 2011.
We don't need great upheavals, we need a great Russia, stated Russian PM Vladimir Putin at an investment forum in Moscow Thursday.
"We definitely need change in Russia's economics and politics, but they will happen in an evolutionary way. We will act very precisely to strengthen the foundations of our political system," said Putin.
End of September it transpired that Vladimir Putin will probably be at the helm of Russia for two more presidential terms 2012-24, after current President Dmitry Medvedev stated he would head Russia's cabinet after fall parliamentary elections and suggested Putin to run as the candidate of ruling United Russia party in presidential elections in the spring.
"To draw investment to our country, we need to minimize risks, both economically and politically. We therefore need a stable direction in Russia's politics," said Putin at the "Russia's Calling" forum.
Tuesday Putin came out with a seminal article in Russian daily Izvestia, calling for the creation of an Eurasian Union, first initially to include Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, but set to expand to a large part of the post-Soviet era.
The Eurasian Union is set to be based on the Common Economic Space between the two countries, but is set to include further administrative and legislative reform, which are to insure not only economic, but also societal and cultural integration.
