A NATO bombing Saturday overnight killed Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's youngest son Saif al-Arab, as well as others close to him.

NATO bombings of Libya are a crime and the scene of warfare will move to Italy, which recently joined the campaign, reacted Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi Sunday.

"Between us and Italy war has been opened. My friend Silvio Berlusconi committed a crime by permitting the Italian bombings. This is an attempt for a new Italian colonialism," stated Col Gaddafi on state TV Sunday.

Saturday overnight national agencies in Libya reported that a strike by the NATO international forces directed at a Gaddafi compound had killed his youngest son Seif al-Arab, and other persons close to him, including family members.

NATO sources have at this point neither confirmed nor disconfirmed the information.

Gaddafi and his wife had been at the bombed house, but had left just minutes before the hit, according to state media.

"War must now move to Italian territory - that is what Libyans want, and I cannot oppose them," stated an affected Gaddafi Sunday.
