The Prosecutor's Office from the Bulgarian Black Sea city of Burgas has requested permanent detention for nine of the 11 arrested man during the special police operation “the Sheikhs”.

The men have been charged with participation and leadership of an organized crime group.

The police operation took place in the Burgas area and aimed at countering illegal fuel trade and theft.

Out of 11 detainees, 4 are police officers with Valentin Atanasov from the Burgas Traffic Police and Valentin Stanev from the 1st Burgas Precinct believed to be the ringleaders.

The Burgas District Court is expected to announce its ruling on Sunday.
