A 39-year-old Bulgarian woman has been kidnapped Christmas morning over a debt of BGN 400.

The news was reported by Darik radio.

The incident happened in the central town of Suhindol. Around 4 am the local police received a call from a man saying his wife has been kidnapped.

The husband, Boris Borisov, who has a long wrap sheet for theft, explained two men entered his house in the wee hours and demanded that he repays the BGN 400 he owed them. Upon realizing Borisov does not have the money, the two took his wife and drove with her in a dark "Fiat" automobile.

The police from the city of Veliko Tarnovo and the town of Pavlikeni are investigating the case.
