The British Ambassador to Bulgaria, Steve Williams, has stated that Bulgaria still has a good brand image in the UK.
In an exclusive interview for Novinite.com, Williams stated "the large numbers of British tourists that visit Bulgaria every year, the number of British nationals that have chosen to live in Bulgaria, the number of British companies wanting to develop their business here - all that shows that there are many underlying positives to the "brand image" of Bulgaria in the UK despite what you may believe from the press."
Williams added however that some issues in Bulgaria do harm the country's image, stating that there is "no quick fix" to problems such as organized crime, corruption and reforming the judicial system.
Ambassador Williams, suggested that even though the UK press is sometimes negative about Bulgaria, UK citizens are still positive about the country; "I don't think the media coverage of the UK in the UK is always "fair"! It is the nature of the business - good news is no news," he concluded.
