On Friday, Petkov and a Bulgarian delegation were not admitted to Delchev's grave and were allegedly assaulted by a group of nationalist Macedonian "hooligans," with no one being hurt.
"It is very disappointing when things like this happen in Macedonia and the Macedonian authorities have taken no measures to prevent this accident," Kovachev told the Bulgarian National Radio on Sunday.
The MEP reminded that Bulgaria's Ambassador to Macedonia pays tribute to the Bulgarian revolutionary each year.
The EP will be informed about the accident next week, he said.
