School Shooting in Turkey: 16 Injured as Gunman Takes Own Life
A shooting at a school in southeastern Turkey left 16 people injured after a former student opened fire before taking his own life, according to local authorities.

Several hundred students, scientists and syndicate members protested in Turkey on Thursday against the purge undertaken by the authorities after the coup attempt in July, reported Reuters.
Some of the banners of the protesters who gathered in front of Istanbul University read: “Shoulder to Shoulder against Fascism”, “Resistance Will Win”.
The number of people fired or suspended on suspicions of having links to the coup has reached 110,000. Nearly 50,000 are university professors and school teachers.
Nearly 37,000 people are in prison awaiting trial.
“The period now is worse than before the coup. Our country is turning into an authoritarian regime via the state of emergency declared after the coup and everyone who is against this is being targeted,” commented to Reuters Tahsin Ye?ildere, leader of the University Instructors’ Association ?N?VDER.
