The press service of the foreign ministry has no information on any Bulgarians heavily injured or killed in the attack which occurred in the French coastal city of Nice late on Thursday evening.
The Bulgarian diplomatic missions in France are in constant contact with local authorities.
According to private bTV station, one Bulgarian, who plays in the Nice symphonic orchestra, sustained a light injury to his arm.
In his Facebook profile, Prime Minister Boyko Borisov expressed his sincerest condolences to the families of the victims and said he is deeply shocked by the terrorist attack.
Also on his Facebook profile, Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov extended his sincerest condolences to the relatives of the victims and wished speedy recovery to the injured.
Mitov said that he is shocked that terror had once again struck in the heart of Europe and that this had occurred on the national day of France. He stated that no cause justifies the murder of innocent people.
The foreign minister assured that the Bulgarian nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the people of France at this difficult time.
The attack, which has been classified by French authorities as being of terrorist nature, occurred when a lorry rammed into a crowd celebrating the national holiday of France – Bastille Day.
At least 84 people were killed in the attack and around fifty other injured in the attack, which occurred on the popular Promenade des Anglais as people were observing the traditional fireworks.
The lorry, which was loaded with guns and grenades, drove for two kilometres into the crowd. The driver, who has been identified as 31-year-old man of dual French-Tunisian nationality, was shot dead by security forces.
