The new multi-purpose Bulstrad Arena was unveiled in the Bulgarian city of Ruse on Thursday.
The opening was attended by Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, Regional Minister Lilyana Pavlova and the sports ministers of Bulgaria and Romania – Krasen Kralev and Gabriela Szabo.
The mayor of Ruse Plamen Stoilov, the metropolitan bishop of Ruse Naum and the main investors in the project were also present at the ceremony.
The hall was unveiled by a concert of the prominent Bulgarian singer Lili Ivanova.
The arena has a seating capacity of 5100 people, which could be expanded depending on the use of the hall.
The schedule of the hall is already quite full with performances of the National Opera and Ballet of Bulgaria, Nazareth, Michael Flatley, Sukhishvili Georgian National Ballet and Goran Bregovic until the end of the year.
The construction of the hall took more than thirty years to complete after it was suspended on several occasions.
The cost of construction was BGN 55 M.
