Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov pointed to the importance of the consensus on the judicial reform, which was reached by most of the parliamentary represented parties on Thursday.

According to Borisov, this consensus will lead to Bulgaria's accession to the Schengen Area in October and the attraction of many investments to the country.

The PM announced this during the opening of the new music and sports hall in the city of Ruse – Bulstrad Arena, daily Sega informs.

Earlier on Thursday, the political leaders had agreed to submit a joint project for amendments to the constitution, which is expected to be tabled to parliament on Friday.

Borisov expressed his gratitude to the parties and their leaders for overcoming their political differences and reaching an agreement, which will be of key importance for the country.

The projects foresees the division of the Supreme Judicial Council (VSS) into two colleges – one of judges and another of prosecutors, direct election of judges' quota and and enhancing the powers of the inspectorate of VSS.

The consensus was reached after previous rounds of negotiations with the two largest opposition parties – BSP and DPS, had failed to yield agreement.

Borisov also made a commitment that the four-lane road connecting Ruse to the Hemus motorway will be completed by 2017.

The PM entrusted Regional Minister Lilyana Pavlova with starting immediately work on the project.
