Fast development of the electronic government is among the priorities of the current center-right GERB administration, as stated by Bulgarian Prime Minister Boiko Borisov.
His position was expressed following his meeting with European Commisioner for Digital Single Market Andrus Ansip.
The Prime Minister noted that goal-oriented work in this direction will benefit both citizens and businesses, as well as the overal economic development immensely. In his view, the implementation of electronic government is key to the success of reforms in all sectors, as announced by the government Press Office.
Among the advantages that Bulgaria holds were listed the broadband Internet connection, allocation of funds for the network development as well as the good Bulgarian IT specialists.
Deputy Chair of the European Commission Ansip in his turn congratulated PM Borisov on the serious work done by the cabinet on the matter. he further emphasized the importance for Bulgaria to be active with regards to the development of a Unified Digital Market.
Ansip pointed out three main aspects of the long-term European strategy - providing easier access to digital goods and services, provision of the necessary infrastructure as well as the implementation of unified industry standards.
GERB leader Boyko Borissov reacted to the fall of the Zhelyazkov government during a live broadcast on his official Facebook page, following the mass protests across the country.
