The Bulgarian Cabinet adopted on Wednesday the government's programme on stable development of the country for the period 2014-2018.
The governance programme has been devised in accordance with the coalition agreement for the formation of a pro-European reformist government for the sustainable development of Bulgaria, the government's press service reports.
The document is based on the programme declaration, which contains priorities aimed at reinforcing statehood and engaging with meaningful, effective and long-term reforms in areas such as the judiciary, healthcare, education, pension reform, energy sector, electoral legislation, demographic policy.
The vision foreseen by the government is of Bulgaria being a European country, which respects the rule of law and has institutions, which work in the citizens' interest, guarantee efficiency and transparency and create conditions for dignified living and personal development.
The governance programme takes into account the tough economic and social situation in the country, the state of the public finances, the bank and energy sectors.
It encompasses 21 policy areas for the development of which the cabinet has set 423 concrete goals and 1155 measures.
The policy areas are: foreign policy, judiciary, economy and growth, public finances, Eurofunds, legislative amendments to public procurement, digital governance and state administration, education and science, social policy, healthcare, energy, transport and infrastructure, regional policy, agriculture and forestry, ecology and environmental protection, prevention and control of disasters, culture and spirituality, improvement of the public environment, defence and security, sport and youth.
With the adoption of the document the cabinet reaffirms its commitment to encourage transparency, tackling crime and corruption and the use of new technologies.
The governance programme will be presented to Parliament.
