The US is planning a USD 1 B security fund to strengthen its military presence in Europe, the country's President Barack Obama said in Poland.
On Tuesday Obama started from Warsaw a visit to Europe which would later continue in Belgium and France.
He restated support for European allies, whose security he described as "sacrosanct" and "a cornerstone" of the US security, as quoted by the BBC.
Obama reminded Washington had already stepped up military presence in Poland with F-16 aircraft and ground troops.
The proposal for a European security fund he made will have to be approved by US congress.
