Bulgarians are less and less convinced by the cause of anti-cabinet protests in the country, according to Bulgarian Deputy-PM and Minister of Interior Tsvetlin Yovchev.
"We are feeling ever better as part of this cabinet. I think that, in an exceptionally hard situation, we managed to do a lot for the country and society in spite of the "Resign!" calls," said Yovchev for the Bulgarian National Radio Tuesday.
"Those "Resign!" calls begin to get very feeble and I think that a growing number of people are coming to realize that this government is doing things that are positive," added he.
Yovchev said that the Bulgarian police will do everything needed in case of a new escalation of protests.
Some protesters, organized on social networks, had warned that after Friday, January 10, rallies will get "more radical".
"I cannot forecast what will happen January 10. We will be ready and will take all measures to not allow a grave disturbance of public order. We will protect the lives of Bulgarian citizens," stated the Interior Minister.
"I trust that whoever wishes to protest will do that in a civilized and democratic manner. We can guard protests for as long as it is needed," added he.
Yovchev was also asked to comment upon the latest series of scandalous brawls in which nationalist party Ataka leader Volen Siderov got himself involved Monday.
"The prosecution is the one to determine whether charges will be pressed against siderov. All needed investigation measures have been implemented," said the Deputy-PM.
He also said that a police officer reported to have been injured in the incident has been injured lightly.
