A British Airways plane with 202 people on board struck an office building while preparing to take off from the OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.

The Boeing 747 was taxiing before takeoff for London's Heathrow Airport when its right wing hit the building, injuring four people inside, according to reports of the BBC News.

South Africa's Civil Aviation Authority said the aircraft had taken a taxiway that was too narrow for it.

The crew had been instructed to take one taxiway but they had taken a smaller one instead.

None of the people on board the plane was hurt, but the ground staff in the building suffered slight injuries.

In a media statement to the BBC, British Airways said that it had provided hotel accommodation for all of the 182 passengers and alternative flights were being arranged for them.

BA also informed that an investigation was underway and that it would assist the South African Civil Aviation Authority in the probe.
