The global chemical weapons watchdog revealed that Syria has declared 41 sites, where it stores over 1 300 tons of chemical stockpile.

In its first report to the UN Security Council, the Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) has confirmed that its inspectors in Syria have verified 37 out of the 41 sites, reports ABC News.

The inspectors were not able to visit 2 of the sites, due to security risks.

In September, the UN Security Council voted a resolution on Syria, requiring it to destroy its chemical arsenal.

The process, overseen by the OPCW, began in early October and is expected to last at least until the middle of 2014.
