Six people were taken to hospital after an explosion struck a Chinese restaurant located on the second floor of the building opposite the Russian Church "St. Nikolay" in downtown Sofia on Sunday evening.
The condition of the injured remains unknown, but no deaths have been reported so far.
Darik radio informs about nine injured.
The signal about the accident was received by the police at 7:20 pm on Sunday.
According to the press office of the Interior Ministry, as cited by dnevnik.bg, the accident was caused by a gas bottle explosion, which caused the fa?ade of the building to collapse.
The building on Tsar Osvoboditel Blvd has been seriously damaged and two cars have been crushed by bricks and debris.
There are a number of ambulances and fire engines on the site and the area has been sealed off.
Interior Minister Tsvetlin Yovchev, Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova and Chief Commissar Nikolay Nikolov, head of the Fire Brigade and Civil Protection Directorate of the Interior, have arrived at the site and an inspection is underway.
